Local bluegrass bands will play a benefit concert tomorrow, May 14 at the Manitou Springs Elementary School to help baby Lumin E. Windsong who was born in critical condition on April 1. After three weeks of tests, treatments, shots, tubes and a remarkable recovery, she was able to go home. She’s still on oxygen and remains at high risk for developmental delay, cerebral palsy, apnea and low verbal IQ. She still has follow-up appointments with five doctors.
Lumin’s dad Ben Lewis is a teacher at Manitou Elementary School and the fiddler for local band Grass It Up. The band will also be playing the benefit show.
